As a young child growing up in the inner-city of South Central Los Angeles, Ivoree Reinaldo learned early on that she wanted to make a difference in the world. When she stumbled into the insurance industry as a 17-year-old student, she discovered a passion for helping those normally underserved that would translate into an incredibly successful career.
“What keeps me driven today is looking at the challenges of my clients as an opportunity for me to be their partner and to help them overcome the obstacles our industry can bring,” said Ivoree, P&C Senior Vice President at Newfront.
Ivoree was recently named one of the Top 25 Agents of 2021 by Insurance Journal, one of only three women and the only Black professional honored on the list. Here, she shares more about her philosophy and approach as an insurance advisor as she shatters records at Newfront and across the sector.
Areas of Specialty: Financial Services, Technology, and FinTech companies who have purpose or are positively impacting commerce and communities. In addition, I pride myself on supporting organizations in the nonprofit, education, and social enterprise world. I have combined my expertise and insurance experience with my passion to serve those who are having a direct impact on our communities.
Accomplishments: For nearly 20 years, I have been a commercial insurance advisor and risk management consultant, customizing insurance programs for complicated and large commercial risk and investment needs. I earned the Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certified Insurance Counselor, and Certified Insurance Service Representative from The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research.
In 2021, I became the first Black female insurance executive at Newfront:
- Principal/Owner on the Property & Casualty Team
- Lead broker on publicly-traded organizations (notably public D&O)
- Promoted to Senior Vice President title in Property & Casualty
- To sell $1M+ in net new revenue in a calendar year
- To cross $2M in total booked revenue and growing fast
Approach: My superpower is building long-lasting relationships and being authentic with all of my clients so we can have candid and strategic conversations necessary to protect their business and align them with our world class team and resources. I pride myself on working with companies who are just starting and through their high-growth phase. It has been a special opportunity for my team and me to lead some of our innovative clients through their first Initial Public Offering (IPO).
I have always sought passion and purpose in my insurance career. In January 2020, I testified before Congress as a subject matter expert on insurance matters. My goal was to use my expertise and life experiences to help underserved organizations such as the nonprofit and social enterprise sectors. Again, in 2021, I was selected to interview in front of the U.S. Department of Treasury discussing the impact of the hard insurance market on organizations who may struggle to absorb the impact, such as my client Black Lives Matter and other high profile nonprofit organizations. Through my work as a risk manager, I achieved the following:
- Saving time, money, and human capital, and mitigating risks for clients with industry-leading technology.
- Applying insurance contractual language to transfer risks from the clients to the insurers in customized agreements.
- Nearly 20 years of building goodwill and relationships with my extensive client list, which includes representing some of the most elite and globally-recognized organizations known throughout the world.
Additional Info: I also am a co-founder of the BLACKfront Employee Resource Group at Newfront, sit on our company Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Council, and serve as a Board Co-Chair for the Youth Leadership Institute, which helps at-risk, underprivileged, and diverse youth help change legal policies in their communities to make their lives better.
